Are you looking for a vibrant floor that is resilient and safe to walk on when wet? Great, no look further than our epoxy flake floors. At Doncaster Epoxy Flooring, our epoxy flooring team installs flooring systems that are completed with surface preparation, colour selection, flake broadcasts, and protective sealing. We do this for homes and businesses in Doncaster, VIC and its nearby suburbs. We work with homeowners and businesses who want slip-resistant floors, whether in their garage, office space, or industrial facilities. When working with us, you get a textured floor that maintains its grip even when its wet, hides dirt and marks through the speckled colour patterns, and looks vibrant for your space whilst being one of the more resilient epoxy floors you can get.
Most plain epoxy floors are smooth, especially when anti-slip aggregates like aluminium oxides or silica sand are not broadcasted over your epoxy. This may have a glossy and shiny look, but after a bit of moisture, the shiny surface turns quickly into a slippery safety hazard. If water exists on your floors, whether coming in from tracked in shoes, drink spills, or condensation on you floor, this creates serious safety risks in garages where your floor becomes like a skating rink. Our epoxy flooring team in Doncaster, VIC solves this through flake epoxy systems where thousands of vinyl chips create texture points that improve the slip-resistance of your floors even when wet.
Epoxy flake floors are decorative but practical floors that can bring a vibrant look to a space. Our team spreads out vinyl chips across the top of the epoxy base coat, which creates to small texture points that creates a speckled look throughout your floor. The texture isn't incredibly rough like sandpaper nor is it smooth like a plain epoxy floor. It gives more of a terrazzo feel when walking on it. Our epoxy flooring contractors will talk with you before the job starts to see what density you'd like to spread the flakes out, we off partial coverage that covers anywhere from 30-60% of your epoxy floor to full coverage, which covers your entire floor.
Plain epoxy floors with solid-colours show dirt marks, tyre marks, and small scratches in the long term as visible wear accumulates. Dark tyre tracks are dark and sticky, no one wants those in their garage. Scuff marks and small scratches from dragged items are noticeable as well. Our epoxy flake floors offers different colour combinations you can match you vinyl flakes and epoxy coats with. The distribution ends up hiding a lot of these marks and tracked in dirt quite effectively. What you get is a clean and easy-to-maintain floor that is vibrant and textured.
Epoxy flake floors offer solid patterned designs with different colour selections, along with the types of flakes you can choose from. Here are some of the colour blends we provide:
Neutral blends using grays, blacks, whites, and tans, creating professional, understated looks that are popular in garages and commercial spaces.
Warm blends combining browns, beiges, and earth tones for traditional, inviting looks.
Cool blends featuring blues, grays, and silvers for modern contemporary appearances.
High-contrast combinations mixing dramatically different colors—like black bases with tan and gray flakes—create bold visual statements.
We can also match flake colours to your business's logo and theme. Our epoxy flooring contractors will show you the different coloured blends we use to help you visualize how different epoxy and flake colours can look in your space.
Slip resistance is a key part of coating garage floors, which is why it's one of the more common locations we apply epoxy flake flooring in. Your garage faces a range of issues, rain and snow gets tracked from your tyres constantly, car washing introduces standing water, oil and automotive fluids create slippery spots for your floor. These sources of water end up turning smooth floors into a skating rink and increases risks of dangerous falls you don't want to encounter. Doncaster Epoxy Flooring's contractors work with you to determine if a flake epoxy system will work well with your garage installation, as the aggressive texture will stop slip incidents from taking place whilst hiding tyre marks and dirt that usually ends up on a garage's floor.
Epoxy flake floors are known to be resilient, versatile, and slip-resistant. This makes it a floor that stands out compared to other floors you can get. Textured tile for example, provides grip, however grout lines collect dirt and make it hard to clean. Anti-slip paint provides slip-resistance but wears down within a few years when faced with vehciel traffic and contact with hot temperatures like hot tyres. Rubber mats provide grip but moisture gets trapped underneath, allowing for mould growth to be a natural occurrence. The flake epoxy coats we install for you however deliver slip-resistance and durability without these problems coming up for you every couple years. you can expect an epoxy flake floor to last for 10-15 years in your home and 7-10 years in a business.

You'll get traction, grip, and a versatile floor that can hide dirt and scuff marks. Contact us today and our epoxy flooring contractors will help you select colours that best suit your space.
Flake density basically determines the concetration of vinyl or acrylic flakes you'd want distributed over your epoxy floor. This does determine how the final result looks like and the texture and slip-resistance of your floor. The right density for you will be one that provides adequate slip-resistance to your floors for how it's used, and looks the way you want it as we aim to get our floors to fir your style.
Partial broadcasts is essentially a light to medium density. It covers anywhere from 30-60% of your epoxy floor, and you'll still be able to see the epoxy base coat underneath between the chips. This gives you a speckled appearance which mixes the epoxy basecoat colour with the chip colours you've chosen spread throughout your floor. Partial flake broadcasts would offer some slip-resistance, but not as much as a full flake broadcast floor. This option is also cheaper than the full broadcast as less flakes are needed to be bought as part of the costs. Our team will guide you with some questions to assess if a partial broadcast is the right coverage for you.
Full flake broadcasts generally cover over 80% of the entire floor, where the epoxy basecoat is barely visible and flakes more or less hide it entirely. This creates a dense textured surface that ends up being slightly thicker than partial flake epoxy floors.. The heavily broadcasted flake floor also adds more slip-resistance and creates a lot of texture which fits garages or commercial spaces where foot traffic is heavy and moisture exposure is present. Having a full coverage also means wear and dirt doesn't really show, the random pattern camouflages any marks or scuffs accumulate over time. We generally recommend full coverages for areas where you want maximum durability and slip-resistance is a priority.

A properly installed epoxy floor can last 10–20 years or more. Lifespan depends on prep, traffic, and how the space is used. Poor prep or heavy abuse can shorten this.
It can be slippery when wet if it’s smooth. This is common in garages or commercial areas. The fix is simple—add flake or anti-slip additives to create grip.
Most failures come down to poor preparation or moisture in the slab. If the surface is dirty, smooth, or damp, the epoxy won’t bond properly and can lift later.
Most floors can be walked on within 12–24 hours. Vehicles usually return after 24–72 hours, depending on the system and weather.
Yes. Epoxy is designed to handle cars, foot traffic, and even machinery in commercial settings. It’s much stronger than paint or basic coatings.
